The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that the Cook Road Bridge over I-29 is now open.

MoDOT says Clarkson Construction completed the bridge rehabilitation project and reopened the bridge Thursday afternoon. However, southbound I-29 remains closed as crews complete work beneath the bridge.

The project replaced the driving surface of the bridge and added a sidewalk on the south side. The City of St. Joseph also allocated funds to enhance the aesthetics of the bridge by adding decorative fencing and concrete.

Southbound I-29 is scheduled to reopen Friday morning.
