A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for the entire area, one of several advisories issued by the Weather Service due to this bitterly cold winter weather.
The Weather Service warns travelers of slippery road conditions throughout northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri as well as southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa.
The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and even tonight’s commute.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop H reports it answered 31 calls for service on Monday, responding to 12 crashes, two involving injuries as well as one stranded motorist. The patrol along with the Missouri Department of Transportation cautions motorists to be careful during this stretch of snow and bitter cold. Drivers should slow down and use caution.
The latest road conditions in Kansas can be obtained by calling 5-1-1. In Missouri, visited traveler.modot.org.
